DE VOORSTELLING KIND GAAT HELAAS NIET DOOR

In KIND zou elke avond iets op het spel worden gezet. Een voorstelling in de geest van Klein Duimpje waarin spelers en publiek een gezamenlijke tocht naar volwassenheid gingen beleven. Een verhaal over angst en overwinning. Maar KIND kan op dit moment helaas niet worden gemaakt. Het is even op.

KIND zou in januari 2022 in première gaan. Met de ontwikkeling van het stuk gingen we met moON productions een spannend experiment aan. We wilden de mogelijkheid onderzoeken om het concept van systeemopstellingen (familieopstellingen) in theater te incorporeren. Daarvoor hadden we een lang en zorgvuldig traject uitgestippeld dat al in april zou starten met een werkweek en belangrijke eerste testopstellingen met publiek in het theater. Maar ook nu besliste corona anders en begonnen alle planningen te schuiven. Het bleek een ingewikkelde puzzel en zorgde voor veel uitstel. De ruimte voor het experiment kwam daarmee onder grote druk te staan.

Er is de afgelopen maanden hard gewerkt aan de ontwikkeling van KIND, maar ook nog aan de afwikkeling van de voorstelling Blackbird - Rebirth. Voor een beginnend gezelschap, in een wereld die op z’n kop staat, was dat niet altijd makkelijk. Geplande voorstellingen vielen vaak op het laatste moment in duigen, financiën (voor onze freelance medewerkers) waren onzeker en ook het ‘bereik’ van ons werk is de afgelopen twee jaar ontzettend beperkt. Om de voorstelling KIND, met deze ingewikkelde thematiek en ongebruikelijke vorm, te laten slagen, móét moON productions op zijn top draaien; maar dat doen we op dit moment niet. We zijn te moe, te murw geslagen door de tegenslagen van de afgelopen twee jaar. De energie die we nodig hebben is er niet, en daarom is er nu maar een keus; dit project nu niet maken.

Het spijt ons enorm dat we dit seizoen niet in het theater staan. Daar keken we erg naar uit. Voor ons eigen welzijn maken we even een pas op de plaats en richten ons straks weer op nieuw werk in een nieuw theaterseizoen.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE PERFORMANCE KID WILL NOT TAKE PLACE

In KID, something would be put on the line every night. A performance in the spirit of Tom Thumb in which the performers and the audience would experience a joint journey into adulthood. A story of fear and victory. But sadly, KID will not be made. For now we are lacking the energy to create this piece.

KID would premiere in January 2022. With the development of the piece, we entered into an exciting experiment with moON productions. We wanted to explore the possibility of incorporating the concept of systemic (family) constellations into theater. We had mapped out a long and careful process that would start in April with a residency and important first test setups with audiences in the theater. But again, corona decided differently and all schedules started to shift. It turned out to be a complicated puzzle and caused a lot of delay. As a result, the essential room for experiment was put under great pressure.

In recent months, we worked hard on all the preparations for KID, but also on the completion of the performance Blackbird - Rebirth. For a starting company, in a world that is turned upside down, that wasn’t always easy. Planned performances often were cancelled last minute, fees (for our freelance employees) were uncertain and the 'reach' of our work has also been extremely limited in the past two years.

In order for the performance KID to succeed, with its intricate theme and unusual form, moON productions must be at its peak; but we are not at the moment. We are too tired, too beaten up by the setbacks of the past two years. The energy we need is not there, so there is only one choice; don't create this project now.

We are very sorry that we are not performing in the theaters this season. We were really looking forward to that. For our own well-being, we take a step back for now and will focus on new work in the next theater season.
